Victorian 18kt Diamond + Enameled Cherub Earrings

A stunning pair of earrings from the Victorian (ca1880s) era! Crafted in 18kt rose and yellow gold, these unique earrings begin with a simple earring wire and two gold ovals separated by an open channel. Two old Mine Cut diamonds adorn each surmount, one above the design at the base of the wire, and the other centered in the inner oval. Hanging below is a diamond-topped frame with a wing-like design enhanced by finely engraved accents. Attached at a hinge in the center of the two “wings” is a marquis-shaped link featuring the hand painted image of an adorable cherub, each carrying a basket of flowers upon its head in a yellow gold setting. The flowers display delightful flecks of reds and yellows and an etched wheat-pattern flanks the top and bottom of the cherub design. A final old Mine Cut diamond dangles from the very bottom, sparkling in it’s bezel setting, bringing the total diamond weight of the earrings to approximately 0.50ctw. The reverse side of each enameled link is marked with “FR✶OV”. This lovely set is very special and would be a wonderful addition to any Victorian collection!

Measurements: The earrings hang approximately 2 3/8″ long including the wires. They measure 1/2″ at their widest.

Condition: The earrings are in overall excellent condition. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold setting. The diamonds are all intact and securely set. The enameled cherubs are in fantastic condition, the images free of scratches and wear.
